Evening With Alan Titchmarsh

Annabel has reported Alan Titchmarsh on her blog but I'm afraid I missed what was another big TV Star - in Abingdon.

All I do have is a picture of The Mostly Books shop window advertising the event. Hope that will do. Mark may send me a picture or two but I'll use them if they come.

Next to Alan Titchmarsh I am trying to make out who is The Last Englishman.

New Toy Shop

The new toy shop has been open since last Saturday. Sylvanian families in the front window.

And Playmobil in the side.

Mostly Books have an evening with Alan Titchmarsh at St Helen & St Katharine School, tonight, 7.30pm... He will discuss his memoir "Knave of Spades". I'm sorry I cannot make it, so if somebody can send me a picture I would be grateful...

Caption Competition from last week... My two favorites are
1) i'm MONKeying around on the pc
9) I'm willing tibetan this monk not keeping a vow of silence.

Let me know what you think.

Jo and Alan

On the Ock Valley Walk I met not one but two well known Abingdon people in the space of a minute. Jo Cartmell, of Save Radley Lakes fame, was out looking for wildlife. She explained to me how to recognise a Water Vole by the plopping sound as it went into the water, and other things.

After that we saw Alan Bryden preparing for a guided ramble in a day or two. Alan was County Councillor for North Abingdon until he retired at the last election back in May 2009 but now is getting dragged into leading rambles and things like that - this far south.

Heritage Day Quiz Result

One final picture for Heritage Day... Duncan Brown, Deputy Mayor, presented a trophy to Rosemary Green and her Dad Steven for the best entry in the treasure trail quiz on Heritage Day. Steven does the Greenius local pub and beer blog. Heritage Day was a sunny day and people came from far and wide. Rosemary and brother Daniel go to St Nicolas School. Her favourite things in Abingdon are her school and her friends. For more things Children, and adults, like about Abingdon See HERE.

Barton Court Geo-Cache

I got this e-mail today from Keir: 'My Barton Court cache has been published :' http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=9de51cb6-70cb-4690-b307-3a8f8ed60a2d (geocache ID: GC1XD1F)

There are various other geo caches in the central Abingdon area as seen on the map.

'Geocaching (pronounced geo-cashing) is a worldwide game of hiding and seeking treasure. A geocacher can place a geocache in the world, pinpoint its location using GPS technology and then share the geocache's existence and location online. Anyone with a GPS device can then try to locate the geocache... '

Two Good Chocolate Shops

Abingdon has two good chocolate shops. I have featured Abingdon's own Sweet Chocolate and must do again sometime soon. There is also Thorntons who for the next two weeks have 25% off.

My daughter works there part time.
