A familiar sight and sound in Abingdon is the Classical Guitarist.

Not as frequent, but I have seen them more than once, are these fully-grown Shetland ponies from Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire. Here to raise money for the Phoenix Children’s Foundation. They say the money they raise in Abingdon will be spent on helping children here in Abingdon.
Stert Street overnight closures

Stert Street is being resurfaced – in places – overnight from 21st to 23rd Februray 2011. The road engineers have also drawn some little arrows down near the junction with Bridge Street so that would be good if they do add direction arrows at that point.
Old Cemetery – Kill Your Speed

A sign up Spring Road asks you to Kill Your Speed as you approach the Old Cemetery.

Inside the New Cemetery the pathways are being improved. They are to be resurfaced once the granite edging is done. I just hope the undertakers don’t try to break the land speed record in there.
Back to the Fifties and Eighties

This evening at the Guildhall George Haslam’s big band Swing Time were playing music from the fifties to help raise money for the Abingdon Arts Festival.

Next Saturday, the Cross Keys are going Back to the Eighties.
Alongside, one football fixture from 2011 would look very strange to anybody from the fifties or eighties… Manchester United V Crawley Town in the 5th round of the FA Cup. Crawley are a non league team who have invested lots of money to get the best non league players. Their pay cheque from this game could well ensure they do not loose out.
