Mr Sandy Thomas makes windmills as a hobby. He can use discarded recycle bins for the blades – they are not quite as good as pedal bins but they do.
He also sometimes gets donated tins of paint – the brighter the better. He has a good eye for what will be useful at Car Boot Sales.
It all began when his wife bought a windmill from a Garden Centre, and Sandy thought he could do better .
The display outside his house near the centre of Abingdon has even featured on BBC South Today.
What a lovely contrast to the previous post’s subject. Maybe the Morris Men should form the council and this gentleman be Mayor.
Hooray for folk art!
It’s really interesting to see what other Abingdonians are up to. Could we have much more of this kind of post?
Yes, and where is his house, I would love to go and see them all.
I agree with Old Ghost! Sad petty actions over the next mayor by the new regime.
This story however is a tonic and thanks for posting
We often walk past his house on our way to town, just to see the latest windmills. They are beautiful and colourful, especially on a dull winter’s day.
I have to agree with Sally here, I do exactly the same thing! They are so beautiful 🙂
My 7 year old son always insists on a detour past the house on the way into town.
I wish I knew about this when I looking for a doc to create.
where about is this house, i would love to see them.
