Over the road the Hilton Garden Inn reopened earlier this year after a major rebuild and is doing well . They provide a good place to stay and eat for people working at the Abingdon Business Park.

Back in March (shortly before the local elections) the previous District Council said they were in negotiations about transferring the lease to a different hotel company, – we have heard no more since then. There are also other ideas being floated about interesting uses if it did become available. There is provision for a small number of flats on the site (6?) but thankfully the council seem to have resisted pressure for more: this is one of the few riverside amenity sites in the town and it would be terrible if it was handed over for residential use.
