Downton Abbey at the Abbey Cinema

September 13, 2019

Downton Abbey
The red carpet was out at the Abbey Cinema in Abingdon for the first showing of the Downton Abbey movie.
Downton Abbey
Downton Abbey was a very successful TV series that followed the dramatic events at the Downton Abbey stately home from 1912 to 1925, through six series and Christmas specials. The movie takes up the story in 1927. Like many other stately homes Downton Abbey had been downsizing. Then they are told that King George V and Queen Mary plan to visit and call their ex butler out of retirement to put on a good show to impress the royals.
Downton Abbey
Downton Abbey will be on at the Abbey Cinema for the next couple of weeks followed by Mrs Lowry and Son. The full program is at https://theabbey.ac

A couple of weeks ago someone (Helen?) posted on here
About the speed and noise of traffic in town, cars reving and backfireing, motor bikes flat out and stuff like that, well I’ve been sat outside Ask having a meal with my family and If I closed my eyes I would have thought I was at Silverstone ra e track! Not a police officer in sight and I can see the time coming when something catastrophic will happen!
Fot heaven sake T V P patrol our town!

Yes – all those Bentleys and Rollers heading for Downton Abbey are ruining the town.
