Ladbrokes close Stert Street branch

Ladbrokes close Stert Street branch
In April 2019 Ladbrokes announced they were closing up to 1,000 branches as new gambling laws came into operation, limiting the amount customers can place on gambling machines with fixed-odds to £2 down from £100. Ladbrokes have now consolidated their Abingdon business by closing the Stert Street branch, and directed customers to the Bath Street branch.

The government policy on gambling machines was intended to help people with gambling addictions. Online gambling addiction is more difficult.

Great. Glad to see the back of it. Bookies are leaches, sucking money out of a town. Hopefully we’ll see the back of William Hill soon too.

just because money is to be made from something doesn’t mean it’s ok.
i can’t see any reason for anyone to gamble given that 99.99% will lose money.

Sorry for the job losses, though round here, you can easily get another job if you want one.

Glad to see the bookies closing. Add nothing to the town and spread misery to many of the most deprived and desperate.

Good policy by the government, for once.

Yet the lottery is a whole different issue; because people who read broadsheet newspapers play that?
