St Nicolas’ Church in the Market Square is again celebrating Christmas with their nativity scene in the South porch. The lights come on at 3.15pm each day as dusk settles. There is a special Crib Service for younger children on Monday 24th, Christmas Eve, at 4pm. Along with short readings and favourite carols the children are invited to bring up the people and animals, in the Christmas story, and place them in the Nativity Scene as the story unfolds – an appropriate start to Christmas from the church named after Santa Claus. Andrew, who sent this, says “Everyone is most welcome!“
The church is not named after Santa Claus; Santa Claus is a version of St Nicholas. St N came first!
