The developers have made good progress over the summer, and the extension to the Hilton Garden Inn Abingdon has reached its final size and just needs fitting out.
The existing rooms will also be refurbished, if they have not been already. Some work has happened to some of them.
This will mean the Hilton Garden Inn and Premier Inn, both on the Marcham Road, and not far from the A34, will be the big two hotels in Abingdon. There is also the Crown and Thistle in the town centre with 18 more interesting rooms. Abingdon does need more hotel accommodation in the town centre but the Upper Reaches has been boarded up for two years, and there has not been any news on that for quite a while.
Have you looked at the prices of the rooms at The Crown & Thistle? Wow very expensive for what they are!
The price of accommodation in this area is very expensive, even in the Premier Inns.
Crown and Thistle is worth the cost. Beautiful rooms.
Ref Crown & Thistle: with little town centre competition they can pretty much ask (within reason) what they like so good luck to them, one local business directly profiting from the Upper Reaches not trading. Abingdon IS worth visiting and they are offering people the chance to stay overnight in the historic heart of it.
Still a rip off in my opinion
C&T is a great establishment. One to be treasured and used, like a lot of Abingdon. The rooms are excellent value for what they are. Boutique, well designed, well maintained, well located and a great brekkie in the morning.
Chris John…a rip off compared to what??? Have you, or someone you know well, actually stayed there?
