There was glorious sunshine as Music in the Park began in the Abbey Grounds in Abingdon with a capacity crowd of 3500.
The opening band, Sidekickz, got some of the crowd dancing,
The Undercovers got almost everybody dancing.
The Oxfordshire Big Band followed with a more laid back beat.
Then the Mayor, Councillor Margaret Crick, thanked everybody who had helped at the event. Special thanks and a bouquet of flowers went to Councillor Alice Badcock who heads up the organising committee.
The Abingdon Town Band then got people waving flags, and waving mobile phone torches, and even got a lot of people singing the proms part of the programme.
That was followed by fireworks, and a polite request to take the rubbish home.
Great to see so many Abingdonians out enjoying our lovely town. Well done Abingdon TC – especially for organising the weather to come right just in time!
Great evening and for a change fab weather – I want to say thanks for the guardians and cleaners of the toilets – no huge queues and plenty of toilet rolls thanks very much
Atmosphere was as always brilliant thanks Abingdon
I didnt need to go to the park to hear it I was nearly a mile away and could still hear it clearly enough for my liking.
Always someone moans when so many others are enjoying themselves and isn’t it great to see
I agree Chris John – I love seeing people moan!
Had a great evening, just wish the brass band where on earlier and it finished with the more upbeat Undercovers who were very good once again. Not a moan just a suggestion.
Oh I don’t agree Abby Don I thought the Abingdon Town Band finished the evening magnificently in true traditional style and were enjoyed by the fantastic crowd. The whole evening was a great success.
i live very close to the park..all i do is open my windows and listen and watch the wonderful fireworks..no moaning from me i love it…thank to all who worked so hard
