There was a further attempt today to mend the water leak that has been causing a problem in Ock Street since Mid March. The hole was bigger this time, and now that it has been filled I can see no sign of gushing water.
There is another hole between Stratton Way and Bath Street where there is usually a raised bed of flowers. This is part of new gas mains being laid.
I read that Chris Grayling thinks that he can solve road congestion by getting the utility companies to dig up the pavements instead. Good luck with that!
If the Road Traffic Acts were enforced, then any one digging up the roads would not simply patch up the hole but make the road back to standard. And good luck with that…
Indeed the pristine restored tarmac in the Vineyard has been poorly reinstated up close to the Radley Road junction, seems the various contractors can just do what they want and don’t answer to anyone or perhaps know they won’t get chased up so don’t try too hard to get closer to ‘perfect’.
A trench driven straight through a flower-bed … Horrors! … certain regular posters on this Blog must be traumatized.
Don’t worry newcomer, I know that the work will only take weeks and weeks and we’ll be told to count ourselves lucky to have it done at all.
Keep an eye on how the area is reinstated, the work had to be done.
