Week 2 – waste collection – recyclables

New Bins
Week 2 of the new refuse collection. Being town centre they came round early before the traffic builds up.
New Bins
Our large green bin was full so we could be doubling the amount recycled compared with the old system. The brown composting bin is quite empty – two large bunches of flowers from a birthday and a few grass cutting. The old style dustbin is there to be recycled itself. The little green food waste bin has less kitchen waste than last week.

Think of the plastics you couldn’t put into the box. Only really accepted plastic milk containers.

Now it accepts most plastics, except spongy types classed as polystyrenes which go in the blue box.

so mine is more than doubled recycling…..saves me a trip to Peachcroft Car Park…for the ‘rejected’ plastics left in my old box…..

if you were lucky your bin was collected this morning as per the VWH info. However if you are like us, and did not get your bin collected don’t try and call VWH as they will not help, and the number for the contractor is always engaged

Recycling green/Mine was collected from my drive (left it one foot pace in) and it was left on the foot path, very nearly in the road. next door!!!!!!!, week before someone had moved it in front of my front door in its parking space….

Saw them driving down Radley Road, down the middle of the road??. (there are bus stops either side at that point).

Bit scary, round a bend and find that in the road…

The wheelie bins are very good at making it look as though you’ve recycled more, but if you compact it down, it’s pretty much the same amount. That’s what we’ve found.

High praise for Verdant, the contractors.
Our village had a litter-pick-up last Sunday.
The contractors lorries went round and gathered up
the litter as it was gathered.
    Smart lorries too.
