Over the four day, double bank holiday, weekend the sun shone constantly once the Royal Wedding was over. Boats could be hired from The Abingdon Boat Centre on Nags Head Island.

Abbey Meadows golf and tennis facilities were also open over the weekend, with either crazy golf

or pitch and putt. As you may remember back in January, the Vale District Council was looking for possible savings given the reduced grant from central government and the golf and tennis was put forward as a possibility. So it is good to see the golf saved.

With Thanks to Nick Addison at tracking-shot.com. I even get a speaking part on this one. I’m the one with white hair and fly away hands.
Thinking ahead about your 2012 street party

There may well have been a lot of street parties in Abingdon to celebrate the Royal Wedding weekend. I have pictures of just two.

In St John’s Road there was a road closure, something more people can request for the next big Royal event, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on the Weekend of 2nd-5th June 2012.

But in some roads, complete closure is not necessary. At Healey Close enough off road space could be found to have a get together.

Thanks to Jan for allowing me to borrow the pictures of St John’s and Ray for Healey Close.
Hope they inspire.
May Day sunrise

Out on an early morning walk, I saw the sun rise over Abingdon Sailing Club at 6am.
