Art Weeks and Open Garden

Art Weeks and Open Garden
We managed to get to a few art week venues in Oxford last weekend, and from this weekend Oxfordshire Art weeks is coming to Abingdon. That includes St Ethelwold’s House where there will be Tea, Textiles and an Open Garden.

Thanks for highlighting this. There are lots of Art Week venues around the town and in the villages locally from the 11th to 19th May. Our Chinese Brush Painting Group is exhibiting for the first time with 15 others as part of Village Arts in Appleton Village Hall on the 18th and 19th May from 10 till 430 each day. We have Cafe Picasso there too! Lots of hard work, but exciting so do support local artists.

Racking my brain to try and remember the lady who lived there before? Tall, Slim grey haired lady, was she Miss Pickering? And didn’t she have something to do with Struan House school in Park Crecent?

Hester thanks for this, I clicked the links and found “miss Pickering”’ just as I remember her in the early 60’s, she was a friend of my mother, I see the vineyard school she ran moved to park crescent and I’m sure it was called Struan house? There were so many individuals and characters in abingdon just after the war in the 50’s and 60’, they ought to be remembered? A book ?
