One boy was only eight. Tales of its being <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">haunted<\/span> are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.berkshirehistory.com\/legends\/abingdongaol_ghost.html\">well documented<\/a>.<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/images\/08103011.jpg\" \/><br \/>The room above the Abbey Gateway was an even older Gaol, and it too experienced bad things, and is said to be haunted.<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/images\/08103010.jpg\" \/><br \/>This picture outside the Abbey Grounds shows the results of the excavation for Abbey House. Abingdon has a lot of history.<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/images\/08103004.jpg\" \/><br \/>Tales of <span style=\"font-style: italic;\"><span>hauntings<\/span><\/span> in East Saint Helen Street abound. So its safe to say all the buildings down this way are possibly <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">haunted<\/span>, and that King William III (of Orange) could still be <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">kicking around<\/span> in the house &#8211; with the blue plaque &#8211; where he stayed.<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/images\/08103005.jpg\" \/><br \/>Local Roots, at the top of East Saint Helen Street, also have <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">a witch<\/span> in the window.<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/images\/08103009.jpg\" \/><br \/>But for a lot of people Halloween is a chance to dress up and have a party.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One good haunt is The Plough where you can not only enjoy a pint but also see The Grim Reaper.The Old Gaol is a building where prisoners once met a grisly end at the gallows.
