A local canoeist estimated a rise of a \u201ccouple of centimetres\u201d on her gauge at the steps by St\u202fHelen\u2019s\u202fWharf. The Abingdon Rainfall Gauge measured 15.3 mm. By the look of it, the local ducks didn\u2019t mind. For the reservoirs and the River Thames alike, it was not a flood, but every drop helps as we still have a hosepipe ban.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag25\/2025102002.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nIt also had the effect of bringing down more of the leaves at St Helens Wharf and plastering them onto the road and seats and boats.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag25\/2025102007.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nWhen I return along St Helen\u2019s Wharf on a day like this \u2014 when the sun breaks through after the rain \u2014 I\u2019m reminded how lucky we are to live here in Abingdon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today brought a fair amount of rain.
