Every so often, the <em>phut phut<\/em> of a vintage motor scooter can be heard in West St Helen Street. Earlier, outside the Co-op, I overheard one rider say, \u201cNot bad for 1958,\u201d as he stood beside his machine.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag25\/2025080805.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nIt was a lovely, sunny afternoon. The petunias have filled out and cover the beds with colour.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag25\/2025080802.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nThe hanging baskets are at their peak \u2014 not yet straggly.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag25\/2025080801.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nA regular street musician was playing in his mellow way. A few days ago, he was playing as four children danced in a line beside him \u2014 getting applause from their parents and the people at nearby tables.
