{"id":27952,"date":"2021-09-19T20:36:25","date_gmt":"2021-09-19T19:36:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abingdonblog.co.uk\/?p=27952"},"modified":"2021-09-19T20:36:25","modified_gmt":"2021-09-19T19:36:25","slug":"heritage-open-day-sunday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/?p=27952","title":{"rendered":"Heritage Open Day (Sunday)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag21\/20211902.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nPatrick and the Town Crier led the Abingdon Boundary Walk this Sunday morning as part of Heritage Open Days.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag21\/20211910.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nThe walk started round by St Helen&#8217;s Wharf. <\/p>\n<p>There was also a morning walk about Victorian Abingdon around the Albert Park area, led by Jackie Smith &#8211; the town archivist.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag21\/20211911.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nIn the afternoon, the Abingdon Traditional Morris Dancers were dancing in the Market Place. <\/p>\n<p>Two other guided walks set off at 2:30pm.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag21\/20211907.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nOne was the Lost Abbey Walk,<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag21\/20211904.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nwho went in search of the Lost Abbey. <\/p>\n<p>The other walk was around the Edible Abingdon plots.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag21\/20211906.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nThere was an information stall, on the Market Place, where people could sign up for the walks or pick up self guided walk leaflets.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag21\/20211912.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nIn the Abbey Buildings, Mr Busby of Busby Bees was telling people about the history of bee keeping.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag21\/20211914.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nThe Abingdon Traditional Morris Dancers arrived soon after to do some more dancing. <\/p>\n<p>Lastly, the Lost Abbey walkers arrived for cakes and coffee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Patrick and the Town Crier led the Abingdon Boundary Walk this Sunday morning as part of Heritage Open Days.
