The sloping roof and 30 meter high mast looks like the bridge of a ship. The translucent central area looks to me like the glowing heart of Dr Who&#8217;s tardis &#8211; which after all was a police box.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/4552\/136\/1600\/policenew2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/4552\/136\/320\/policenew2.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>Abingdon Borough Police were set up in 1836. Until recently the Police occupied the building near the Old Gaol (now <a href=\"http:\/\/abingdon2006.blogspot.com\/2006\/08\/county-police-station.html\">waiting re-use<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Thames Valley Police was formed in 1968 from the Berkshire police force, of which Abingdon was a part, and from the forces of Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Oxford City and Reading Borough.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/4552\/136\/1600\/policenew1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/4552\/136\/320\/policenew1.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>Here is a picture taken later on in the day ( a few days ago). The Area HQ includes office accomodation and a control centre.
