Number 1075 had a good lead by this point.<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag09\/09101817.jpg\" \/><br \/>Harry has a picture of the leading lady at this point <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harrydogblog.com\/2009\/10\/marathon-dog.html\">on his blog<\/a>, and since I have already shown her near the Wharf and the Oxford Mail has a big feature on her, here is one of the second place lady as well, Number 1127.<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag09\/09101819.jpg\" \/><br \/>The race was well marshalled with lots of volunteers. Well organised by <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20020802055253\/http:\/\/abingdonamblers.co.uk:80\/\">Abingdon Amblers<\/a>&#8230;<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag09\/09101821.jpg\" \/><br \/>They were even trialing the latest electronic gadgetry. Each runner had a chip so their exact time was transmitted to a results boards as they crossed the line. The results are available at <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20140915030313\/http:\/\/www.chiptiming.co.uk:80\/results.php\/\">ChipTiming.co.uk<\/a> which has the winner, Number 1027, as 2:28:37. So I nearly got it right on this picture&#8230;<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag09\/09101823.jpg\" \/><br \/>There were a lot of runners still to come in. This is the 25 mile point on the Wootton Road.<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag09\/09101825.jpg\" \/><br \/>And here is a runner going down the underpass, next to the Abingdon Marathon Mural.
