{"id":23780,"date":"2019-12-20T00:46:24","date_gmt":"2019-12-19T23:46:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/?p=23780"},"modified":"2019-12-20T00:46:24","modified_gmt":"2019-12-19T23:46:24","slug":"abingdon-mummers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/?p=23780","title":{"rendered":"Abingdon Mummers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag19\/19121905.jpg\" alt=\"Abingdon Mummers\" \/><br \/>\nThe Abingdon Mummers were performing their traditional Christmas Mummers play this evening around drinking places in Abingdon including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Punch Bowl,&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Broad Face,&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Kings Head &amp; Bell,&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Old Anchor,&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Tipsy Mercer,&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>and the Conservative Club. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag19\/19121906.jpg\" alt=\"Abingdon Mummers\" \/><br \/>\nAfter the Conservative Club the players headed for the last performance of the evening at the Brewery Tap.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag19\/19121909.jpg\" alt=\"Abingdon Mummers\" \/><br \/>\nThe play tells the battle between King George and the Bold Slasher.  First King George is killed and has to be revived by the doctor.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag19\/19121910.jpg\" alt=\"Abingdon Mummers\" \/><br \/>\n(That is after Bailey the dog tried her best.)<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag19\/19121912.jpg\" alt=\"Abingdon Mummers\" \/><br \/>\nThen the Bold Slasher is killed.
