{"id":23084,"date":"2019-08-27T22:00:14","date_gmt":"2019-08-27T21:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/?p=23084"},"modified":"2019-08-27T22:00:14","modified_gmt":"2019-08-27T21:00:14","slug":"air-pollution-in-the-vineyard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/?p=23084","title":{"rendered":"Air Pollution in the Vineyard"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag19\/19082802.jpg\" alt=\"Air Pollution in the Vineyard\" \/><br \/>\nWalking in Abingdon this afternoon my wife commented how bad the pollution from traffic was down the Vineyard. <\/p>\n<p>The air pollution used to be concentrated in the town centre shopping streets before the Abingdon Integrated Transport Strategy (AbITS), implemented in 2006,&nbsp; started holding traffic outside the town centre in roads like the Vineyard and Ock Street.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag19\/19082803.jpg\" alt=\"Air Pollution in the Vineyard\" \/><br \/>\nOn investigation I found that the VWHDC council monitors levels of pollutants around the town centre. Monitoring tubes are fixed to lamp posts. They are exposed for a month at a time and sent to the laboratory for analysis and reporting.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag19\/19082804.jpg\" alt=\"Air Pollution in the Vineyard\" \/><br \/>\nOne monitoring tube is in the Vineyard, and like most of the tubes around Abingdon town centre it shows a slowly decreasing trend in nitrogen dioxide levels.<\/p>\n<p>This data is available at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/oxfordshire.air-quality.info\/\">https:\/\/oxfordshire.air-quality.info<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Walking in Abingdon this afternoon my wife commented how bad the pollution from traffic was down the Vineyard.
