{"id":21149,"date":"2018-09-10T21:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-09-10T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/?p=21149"},"modified":"2018-09-10T21:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-09-10T20:00:00","slug":"dragon-boats-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/?p=21149","title":{"rendered":"Dragon Boats 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thankyou to Peter from Abingdon Camera Club for being there at the Dragon Boat Racing this year as I was away.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag18\/18090902.jpg\" alt=\"Dragon Boats 2018\" \/><br \/>\nThe Dragon Boat Racing is one of the big events in the Abingdon Calendar, and is a charity fund raising event organised by The Rotary Club of Abingdon Vesper&#8217;s with the support of many other local groups.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag18\/18090901.jpg\" alt=\"Dragon Boats 2018\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There were 4 army teams rowing this year, and the 3 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps went on to win both the army challenge and this year&#8217;s event.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag18\/18090903.jpg\" alt=\"Dragon Boats 2018\" \/><br \/>\nThere were also a dozen or so other team, most of them dressed up to express their team&#8217;s theme.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag18\/18090905.jpg\" alt=\"Dragon Boats 2018\" \/><br \/>\nDragon Boat Racing involve rowing to the beat of a drum down a 250 meter track down the River Thames.\u00a0 The event was was well attended , and there was also entertainment for children, BBQ and tea and cake tents (both manned by the Rotary Club), Loose Cannon Brewery beer tent, various charities and souvenir sellers.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag18\/18090904.jpg\" alt=\"Dragon Boats 2018\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This was the 20th year the event has been run.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thankyou to Peter from Abingdon Camera Club for being there at the Dragon Boat Racing this year as I was away.
