{"id":21122,"date":"2018-09-04T21:28:20","date_gmt":"2018-09-04T20:28:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/?p=21122"},"modified":"2018-09-04T21:28:20","modified_gmt":"2018-09-04T20:28:20","slug":"heritage-day-and-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/?p=21122","title":{"rendered":"Heritage Day and more"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the Market Place on Saturday there were stalls promoting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritageopendays.org.uk\/\">Heritage Open Day<\/a>,,  the <a href=\"https:\/\/kenningtonmemoryclub.wordpress.com\/\">Kennington Memory Club<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/rccglighthouseabingdon.org\/\">The Lighthouse Church in Abingdon<\/a>.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag18\/18090105a.jpg\" alt=\"Heritage Day\" \/><br \/>\nThere is not as much happening over Heritage Weekend this year as usual. Things will be back to normal in 2019. However there is a chance to find out about the developing plans for the Abbey Buildings. The architect will give an illustrated talk on Friday 7th September at 7.30pm in the Unicorn Theatre.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag18\/18090105.jpg\" alt=\"Heritage Day\" \/><br \/>\nThen Saturday  8th &#8211; Sunday 9th September 10.00 \u2013 4.30pm the Abbey buildings will be open for people to explore, find out about their history, and ask about the plans on display.<\/p>\n<p>The Friends of Abingdon have Heritage walks from the Market Place from 10:30 on Saturday 9th. Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/friendsofabingdon.org.uk\/event\/explore-abingdon-on-thames\/?instance_id=45\">their walks page<\/a> for information.<\/p>\n<p>Christ&#8217;s Hospital Hall will also be open on Saturday 9th September. That is the ancient hall at the centre of Long Alley Almshouse near St Helen&#8217;s Church.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag18\/18090101.jpg\" alt=\"Heritage Day\" \/><br \/>\nThe Kennington Memory Club had a tombola on the Market Place<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag18\/18090104.jpg\" alt=\"Heritage Day\" \/><br \/>\nand a big jumble sale in St Nicolas Church.
