It has been a market since 1928, and underwent a major refurbishment in 2012.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag17\/17081604.jpg\" alt=\"Abingdon Street\" \/><br \/>\nThe Abingdon fish stall got a mention by Rick Stein in a cookery book after he used some of the produce. Other stalls also have the Abingdon name, and I got my hair cut in the Abingdon Market for just \u00a37.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag17\/17081607.jpg\" alt=\"Abingdon Street\" \/><br \/>\nAbingdon Street itself is in the centre of Blackpool, close to Blackpool Tower. It runs from the Winter Gardens theatre complex to Springfield Road 400 yards away.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag17\/17081606.jpg\" alt=\"Abingdon Street\" \/><br \/>\nIt is mostly a retail street. I could not find why it got the name Abingdon Street.
