{"id":14725,"date":"2015-08-13T22:50:29","date_gmt":"2015-08-13T21:50:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/?p=14725"},"modified":"2015-08-13T22:50:29","modified_gmt":"2015-08-13T21:50:29","slug":"oh-when-the-saints-start-kneeling-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/?p=14725","title":{"rendered":"Oh Why the Saints?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag15\/15080915.jpg\" alt=\"Oxford Saints kneel\" \/><br \/>\nI was passing by the American Football Game between the Oxford Saints and a visiting team on Sunday at Southern Town Park in Abingdon.<\/p>\n<p>After a period of stop-go action,  both teams went off for a talk from the team coach.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag15\/15080910.jpg\" alt=\"Oxford Saints kneel\" \/><br \/>\nThere are 45 players in each team and as the coach spoke quite a few of the Saints &#8216;took a knee&#8217;. The only thing I overheard was the coach say &#8220;<em>you went in too high that is why you got hurt.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I left wondering why they keep kneeling down when anybody gets hurt, or the coach is talking. <\/p>\n<p>Is it because &#8230;<br \/>\na) They are the &#8216;Saints&#8217; and want to pray<br \/>\nb) They want to show respect to the coach<br \/>\nc) Sitting would look lazy and inattentive<br \/>\nd) Another reason ?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was passing by the American Football Game between the Oxford Saints and a visiting team on Sunday at Southern Town Park in Abingdon.
