{"id":10982,"date":"2014-03-02T20:34:23","date_gmt":"2014-03-02T19:34:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/?p=10982"},"modified":"2014-03-02T20:34:23","modified_gmt":"2014-03-02T19:34:23","slug":"a-visit-to-abrail-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/?p=10982","title":{"rendered":"A visit to Abrail 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.admrc.org.uk\/\">Abingdon &amp; District  Model Railway Club<\/a> held their annual Abingdon show on March 1st 2014.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag14\/15030123.jpg\" alt=\"Abrail 2014\" \/><br \/>\nThe exhibition guide reminded parents that &#8220;<em>model railway scenery is delicate and fingers can cause havoc with someone&#8217;s pride and joy<\/em>.&#8221; There was a special railway layout where children could have a go but it did not look as good as this one.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag14\/15030122.jpg\" alt=\"Abrail 2014\" \/><br \/>\nThe real station at Rewley Road Oxford was dismantled in 1999, but the model occasionally tours and visited the show this year, and got a good write up in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oxfordmail.co.uk\/news\/11018879.Rail_show_will_display_old_station_model\/\">Oxford Mail<\/a>.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag14\/15030118.jpg\" alt=\"Abrail 2014\" \/><br \/>\nThe models are beautiful to look at, real works of art, and a delight to look round.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag14\/15030119.jpg\" alt=\"Abrail 2014\" \/><br \/>\nSome of the enthusiasts looked to be in their seventh heaven.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abingdonblog.co.uk\/imag14\/15030113.jpg\" alt=\"Abrail 2014\" \/><br \/>\nJust to say that in June, Didcot Railway Centre have a special educational event for schools where children will be evacuated on a steam train during a WWII air-raid, and will then learn how they are expected to earn their food and board in their temporary homes.
