Cotman Landseer and Palmer

These three roads are to be found in South Abingdon. Abingdon Borough Council were going through an British artist theme at the time they were named. The road sign bringing them together was created by the Vale of the White Horse District Council.

This water-colour by John Sell Cotman is of Greta Bridge and was painted in 1806.

Sir Edwin Landseer first exhibited at the Royal Academy at the age of 13. This oil painting called 'Dignity and Impudence' was painted in 1839 and is to be found at the Tate.

This etching called Early Morning was executed by Samuel Palmer in 1825.
