Electric Cars at Waitrose

Electric Cars
Not far from the Waitrose entrance is an area where you can charge up your electric car. The larger charger is Nissan, and the smaller one is all other makes. The cone in-between is probably there to stop petrol and diesel cars using the charging space as a parking place.

Can you park in Waitrose long enough to charge a car?

It has been well used lately, whenever I shop, there is always an electric car plugged in. I suspect it keeps the levels ‘topped up’ and replenishes the charge used to drive to shop…..

Are you sure its not the same one, and it hasn’t finished charging yet ;)

Using the 32 Amp supply it takes about 3-4 hours, so assuming it is not too flat to start with you can get a decent charge during a shop.
if you use the 16 Amp supply it really needs to be on overnight. The range on full battery is about 100 miles

    Yes, it’s amp-le time.

I usually take along my mobile phone, drill and AA battery charger to make it worth the er petrol.

No it was a Mini, then a Chevy Volt, then a new Prius Hybrid ‘Plug In’. (or Could have been a Transformer…) ;-)

They have one at Redbridge Park and Ride for a couple of years. I have never seen a car plug into it yet.

Last time we went to use the one at Redbridge it was already occupied so we had to drive into the centre of Oxford! At least we didn’t contribute to any pollution!

Nor have I Janet, except 1 time, when the BMW/Mini Electric was introduced..and they took some photos.

Someone pointed out that the spaces in front are not designated electric (Lightening bolts?), but designated ‘disabled’ spaces.

They charge £1.50 a day to park, [no concessions]
before you swipe your card to gain access to the plugs……

It is the same at Seacourt P&R – the spaces there are also marked as disabled. We just have to hope they don’t fine us for using them!
The management at Waitrose are keen to paint appropriate markings on their spaces as people keep moving the cones – but they have no budget left for the carpark in this financial year.

Does it improve the horse-power like the so called ‘beef’ products pre-packed for Tesco? Oh sorry, that’s my Lidl pony :-)
