Abingdon Town Football Club have no fixtures this season. They appear to be having a year out. According to people I spoke to at the ground they hope be able to get a decent team together and re-apply to join the North Berks League next season. So we will see.
In the meantime other teams are hiring the ground. There was a game on there this afternoon between two youth teams.
Best start playing a game per week on there at least….Matty Barber of Seville will have his eyes on that piece of real estate!!! You can see the £ signs rolling in his eyes already!!!
So good to see the place being used, long may it last.
Julian, as I understand it SO D C own it, not the Vale ?
CK2….does that make a difference?? They manage to sell off everything else…even if it doesn’t actually belong to them?
If it doesn’t get used someone will want to build on it!
Amusingly the more football pitches are used the muddier they get, does that truly make them ‘brown field’ sites? 🙂
Hi Julian, I think it does, S O D C nay have little sympathy with residents of Abingdon if, or rather when a planning application eventually goes in? Perhaps the Vale or TC can make a statement on the subject?
It floods though – who would want to build or live there?
Unfortunately Annabel the developers won’t have to live there so they normally don’t give a Dickens if a site floods or not.
