EEEHHH! and YIIEEEE!

Fear
There is a Hallowe’en Haunt trail you can follow round the town centre with the chance of a prize of £100 to spend at town centre shops. The event is run by The Town Centre BID.

Walking round Abingdon this evening I was made to feel the fear by one or two of the shop window displays.

Sort of on a shopping theme I was troubled by my 80 year neighbour being scammed out of £2000 last week by a person phoning him purporting to be from SKY TV saying the new increased charges were taken from his bank a month early so could they have his bank details to reimburse him, he was fooled and they nicked £2000,
Had diner with friends in abingdon last night and was told how our host had £1400 taken from her credit card!
My wife has just returned from sainsbury’ s saying how TVP are there giving out credit card holders because the villains have found they can scan the new contactless credit cards even if they’re in a wallet or hand bag, but the wallets they give out stop that from happening, happy shopping !

Just bought a couple of bags of sweets for the trick or treaters. I must say I used to prefer a penny for the guy as there was no implied threat to do something if people did not give money or sweets. I am very sorry to hear of the scams. I spoke to a police woman in Abingdon and said that they should warn people about these things. My 80 year old friend had her purse stolen in Abingdon. The police could have a notice board in Abingdon with the latest alerts, advice and warnings. Not everyone, especially the elderly looks at the internet. However, the police seem to be quite remote from the public at the moment, unless one is on one of the closed meetings they go to.
