99.9p a Litre

What Reading Makes of Us
Almost ten years ago this blog reported, in July 2006, that the price of petrol was at a high of 99.9p a litre. Back then it was on an upward trend about to go above £1.00 for the first time. Ten years on and the price is back down at 99.9p a litre again at Tesco .

Over the road at Fairacres Trading Estate the Homebase chain have been sold to Westfarmers, an Australia’s hardware chain that runs Bunnings Warehouses. Homebase store will be rebranded with the Bunnings name in three to five years time.

What a relief….the cost of, well…everything will now fall hugely, as the price of fuel drops globally. Can’t wait. Any day now…

Meanwhile…isn’t the Homebase/AHF/B&Q part of Fairacres all being redeveloped soon?

Daniel – I have just checked the Vale website: the Fairacres redevelopment was given outline planning permission in Jully 2015, but they have 7 years in which to bring forward detailed proposals and I dont think they have done that yet, so don’t expect anything too soon! I also noticed (since it has been the subject of rumours) that the Planning Decision specifically excludes food sales in any of the new units.

PS the plans only cover the Homebase/Vineys/AHF/Top Tiles area – not the B&Q side of the road.

Bang goes the Bunnings community sausage sizzles outside the entrance….very popular to grab a sanga while collecting the gardening and repair items….
