For the last few weeks there has been scaffolding up in the front of Abingdon Baptist Church.
The blue and white front, of this Grade II listed building, has been repainted with a classical stone colour. A glass main door will be added.
The church (as in the members and not the building) are still fund raising for further improvements to the building.
if an age of reason ever arrives, that would make a nice house.
Yes, it is. A very nice house of God, open and welcoming to all. What could be more reasonable than that?
Awww I liked the lovely blue …….. but I’m sure I’ll love the stone colour just as much. Such a beautiful building.
I often look at buildings like that in Abingdon and think they’d make lovely hotels and houses. It would be lovely if you could have civil ceremonies in the churches in Abingdon. Just because you don’t believe in the religion doesn’t mean you don’t want the lovely building.
Sacrebleau ! I got married there in 1971. It looked beautiful then. As it has done for the next 45 years, I suppose nothing lasts forever? (Except a good marriage) !
