A hole in West Saint Helen Street
A deep hole has just opened up in West Saint Helen Stret.
Witnesses tell me that there was a roller helping lay tarmac over a hole last night and overnight it just opened up.
Looking down the hole, all that can be seen is darkness without end.

About 15 years ago i worked with a guy in his 60s who claimed that in his youth he often used to wander through underground tunnels in abingdon that were later bricked up following safety concerns - i often wondered how true it is.
Its the old Brittana pub tunnel,to the church for the vicar's to have a late drink
There are similar tunnels under Oxford town centre.

Why not go with the flow: include the hole in the Heritage Weekend. I volunteer to abseil down there!
